Lubricating Oils: what to know
- Automotive grades are described by SAE viscosity (for example 5W-30, 15W-40)
- Performance is defined by API and ACEA service categories
- Marine lubricants include cylinder oils and system oils matched to fuel sulphur level
- Industrial lubricants include hydraulic, gear and turbine oils
- Supply formats: bulk, ISO tank, IBC, drum and retail packs
Tokenization and tracking
Lubricating oils belong to the broader PEG product range. PEGSTO AG’s current tokenization programme covers EN590 diesel; the roadmap sets out later phases.
Lubricating Oils in Singapore
Singapore is a major marine hub, so marine lubricants for ocean-going vessels are an important demand segment alongside bunker fuel. More on Singapore.
Lubricating Oils in Switzerland
Swiss industry, rail and machinery makers are large users of high-performance industrial lubricants. More on Switzerland.
Frequently asked questions
What is base oil?
The refined oil that makes up most of a lubricant (typically 70–99%) before additives are blended in.
What does 15W-40 mean?
An SAE multigrade viscosity rating: the first number with W shows cold-start behaviour, the second shows viscosity at operating temperature.
Does PEGSTO AG issue lubricant tokens?
Not currently. Phase 1 is EN590 diesel.
